Here at Rendon Remodeling & Design, there is nothing we love more than impressing our clients with an amazing transformation. After we talk with the client and survey the space, we get started on making their renovation dreams come true!

Project Background

There’s no denying that family time is the most important time spent in most of our lives. From game nights, to watching a movie together, to enjoying a family meal, the family of our recent remodel in Northern Virginia is no exception.

When they came to us regarding a family room remodel, we took the project on without hesitation. The family had been considering moving due to a tight family room area that they were finding not usable. However, they really love their neighborhood and have been there for quite some time. Rather than making the decision to move, especially in the current housing market, they made the decision to invest in their own home to make it what they needed.

The Process

After meeting with the family, we came up with a game plan. The most important aspect of the remodel was a larger family room area that they could enjoy together for years to come. To create additional places to spend time together, a breakfast nook and deck off the addition were added to the plan.

Challenges

The remodel went relatively smoothly, our team didn’t run into any major roadblocks or issues. As contractors and designers, this is always our goal. Roof framing and deck details were not standard, which added a bit of time to the project, but were nothing too complicated for our team to handle.

Basement Remodel

Another part of the project was unrelated to the family room addition. We also removed a structural post in the basement to allow for playing pool more freely. We had to install a steel beam in the basement and getting this beam inside wasn’t the easiest! The maneuvering to install it was also difficult, as you might imagine. However, our team of experts made it happen smoothly.

The Expansion

When talking to the family, their most important desires for the space were:

  • A larger space to enjoy one another’s company
  • Additions like the deck that would be low maintenance
  • Spaces that were perfect not only for relaxing but also for entertaining

When you enter the newly remodeled family room in this house, we believe we accomplished all of those needs. An expanded space complete with a trey ceiling to create extra height and openness, which provides the perfect quality time area.

From there, you’ll find a breakfast nook off the kitchen area, allowing the family to start their day off together on the right foot. During the day or in the evening, time can be spent on the deck, creating a continuous space.

The Finish

What began as a way to spend more time together, has become a sanctuary for quality time and so much more. No matter the time of day or activity, the family now has a space that can be used for years to come for relaxing and entertaining.

The family was thrilled with the result:

“We contracted Rendon Remodeling based on recommendations and their reputation for delivering a high-quality product and service at fair price. They exceeded our expectations, and we could not be happier with their work. We would not hesitate to call them for any future remodeling needs and highly Recommend Rendon Remodeling.”
